The ultimate IE hack
Well, me and Prabhath were discussing weird IE bugs, and I suggested the ultimate IE hack to him. One line to wipe away all the bugs.
Now, I’m gonna share it with you.
Just add this at the top of your CSS:
* html { display: none; }
Et voilà!

Thanks for the tip Indranil. It worked like a dream…

Glad to be of service.

Thats’ going to be a pretty useful tip!

LMAO, very funny tip!
R.I.P. I.E., ahaha!
PS: Being French myself, I can tell you that it’s “Et voilà !” and not “Et voila!”, as you wrote. An accidental mistake that I nevertheless want to be corrected.

I think that my two asteriks made you site crash.
Sorry. ^^
April 25th, 2006 at 2:27 am
Maybe another asterisk will fix it *
April 25th, 2006 at 2:32 am
*pickupjojo* : Thanks for correcting me. Corrected the entry.
Also, I didn’t notice any crash!
April 25th, 2006 at 2:59 am
I did, the site’s gone all screwy after pickupjojo’s comment!
Nice hack too - I might have to use that one

LOL! CLASSIC!
April 25th, 2006 at 7:33 pm
*Olly* and *pickupjojo* and *mdk* : It was because of Textile. It’s all fixed now, hopefully. Strangely, the bug never showed in Safari.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:24 pm
Unfortunately your ultimate hack won’t work in IE 7
April 26th, 2006 at 5:35 pm
*Lakshan* : Well, IE 7 is a new browser, and it should have a chance to show its talents, right?
April 27th, 2006 at 9:25 am
Indranil : The Reports say Holly hack will no longer work in IE 7.. That means all the IE alone hacks we did (including THIS) will not work in IE7
April 27th, 2006 at 4:12 pm
*Lakshan* : That is what I meant. This is not supposed to work in IE 7, as it is a new browser.
Also, just to make it clear, this isn’t a Holly hack.
April 28th, 2006 at 2:08 am
Yeah, that´s working fine
April 28th, 2006 at 10:20 am
Indranil : But I think IE 7 still don’t fully support CSS 2.1 which will left us nowhere.
April 28th, 2006 at 8:16 pm
*Lakshan* : but it’ll be really unfair to rob IE 7 from its 15 minutes of fame, now, wouldn’t it?
May 1st, 2006 at 9:50 pm
Nice.

People who can’t make a decent cross-browser website shouldn’t be making websites.
May 27th, 2006 at 7:25 am
*Sumerah* : And people who can’t make a browser comply with the latest standards and recommendations shouldn’t be making browsers.
And anyways, once you’ve actually tried to wrestle a browser into submission will you realize how hard it is to make sites cross-browser compatible.

Very funny….
And I think it goes both ways…both parties need to adapt to each other.
